About Rose Haven

Rose Haven has been a line dance instructor since 1992 and a line dance competition judge since 1993 (she resigned from judging in 2005). Although she has chosen not to travel as much as she did in the past, she does still enjoy some travel and instructing workshops. Since 1993, she has traveled throughout the United States , attending weekend country western dance festivals, (judging and teaching workshops) and thus staying current on new dances being danced nationally and internationally. In 2004, she had the great experience of working with Scooter Lee in Norway , and spent 2 weeks teaching line dances and working with local instructors with Instructor Training Class she developed.

Rose has been a member of NTA (National Teacher Association of Country Western Dance) since 1992, and is certified through Level II Line Dance.

Rose was the Founder and Director of the Step In Time Dance Team, which won the UCWDC World’s Championship Team Cabaret Division for 2004. In 2003, the team placed 4th in the same division, as well as 2nd Place in Large Troup Line Dance Team, Short Program. Previously, in 2000, the team won the CDA (Country Dance Association) Open Non-Country Line Dance Team Championship. In 2005, the team won another UCWDC World Championship Title in the Showtime cabaret division.

Rose teaches small group lessons during the week, including at several Senior Retirement Communities, in Decatur, Buckhead, and Braselton. She previously also taught for Dekalb and Gwinnett Senior Centers . She currently teaches on Wednesdays (Ladies Night) at Wild Bill’s Country Dance Club and Concert Hall in Atlanta , Georgia – one of the largest dance halls in the country.

Rose is also a member of the 2003 Dream Team, a part of the foundation (Dancing for the Dream) founded by Scooter Lee (recording artist) and Jo Thompson, (internationally recognized dance instructor and choreographer) helping seniors find all the benefits of dancing on health and emotional well-being. The Dream Team recently introduced line dancing (non-competitive) at the Summer Senior Olympics, held in Hampton Roads, Virginia (May 2003). She currently serves as an instructor at D4D events held around the United States . Along with Jo Thompson, and Joanne Brady, Rose has helped Scooter in phrasing her music, prior to recording, to make sure it will be suitable for dance choreography.

Rose has choreographed some line dances (especially for her senior classes and beginner dancers), but has enjoyed having her good friend, Tandy Barrett, do the choreography for her team routines! Tandy and Rose have co-choreographed some line dances as well.

Rose has resided in Tucker, GA with her husband, Arthur, since 1981.
